You can’t do it all on your own. You have an idea, it works, it does a great job for the environment, you work crazy hours but then realise you can’t do it on your own.

Capacity building is the process of engaging and enabling people to help. Capacity building is a critical and much overlooked part of marine conservation and environmental work. Marine conservation since its inception has seen an explosion in the range of organisations and numbers of people acting on an ever wider range of challenges. Initiating and building organisations involves a host of organisational issues and skill sets that are not directly concerned with environmental issues per se including, encouraging and enabling volunteers, developing staff, fund raising, communication and moving beyond the founders.

Throughout his career Bob has collaborated with many people both creating,  developing and managing a wide variety of new organisations including the Marine Conservation Society, the Shark Trust, Communications & Management for Sustainability, forums and long running meetings like Coastal Futures.
